Senior Cost Accountant
A research facility in Florida is actively seeking an analytical and hardworking professional to join their staff as their new Senior Cost Accountant. In this role, the Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the manufacturing standard cost records through analysis.
- Assists with accurate and timely month-end close activities for Cost Accounting
- Prepares financial analysis on changes in actual manufacturing costs or product design, inventory, and manufacturing methods or services provided to determine effect on costs
- Maintains schedules for use in controlling expenditures and calculation of overhead costs by business unit
- Prepares gross margin analysis specifying factors affecting prices, cost, and profitability by contract or job
- Works with operations on continuous process improvement of inventory control, cycle count program, engineering changes, and coordination of inventory transactions for production and work order processing
- Prepares and analyzes manufacturing variances
- Monitors and runs periodic checks on costed BOMs, path changes, absorption and inventory valuation
- Updates standard cost and investigates / resolves costing issues
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 7+ years of relevant operational experience and manufacturing standard cost
- Strong grasp of GAAP and Manufacturing Accounting concepts
- Experience working with development of standard cost system, bill of material concept, and manufacturing variances
- Demonstrated ability to streamline and automate complex processes
- Ability to apply logical judgment to diverse and challenging situations with a team working ability
- Ability to identify opportunities to improve processes and controls and take initiative to recommend changes to Operations
- Hands-on ERP experience
- Strong Excel skills, especially advanced financial modeling and analytical techniques
- Excellent communication skills
- Microsoft Dynamics AX experience
- Knowledge of Jesta, InStyle, Oracle and Microsoft Access
