Russian speaking Paralegal
The Firm
Levenes Solicitors is a leading personal injury practice, established in 1989, and based in Wood Green, North London. The firm deals predominantly with personal injury claims arising from accidents at work and road accidents but also public liability and other types of accidents. We are an exceptionally diverse firm and most of our solicitors speak at least two languages which allows us to provide legal services in England & Wales in over 18 languages without the use of interpreters.
The Team
In 2006 the firm created a team to act for clients from the former USSR and CIS countries who suffered injuries as a result of accidents in England & Wales. Most of the team’s clients are Russian speaking UK residents, who suffered injuries in construction, factory and warehouse accidents as well as road traffic accidents. The work is vary varied and includes litigated high value catastrophic claims as well as low value fast-track claims.
The Role and Responsibilities
We require a Russian-speaking paralegal to assist our Solicitor, acting mostly for Russian speaking clients in pursuing personal injury claims. The work will involve mainly speaking to clients to obtain information needed for each claim and keep them updated on progress, but also drafting claim forms, preparing witness statements, obtaining and summarising medical records, instructing medical experts and counsel, drafting court documents, attending meetings with clients and counsel and sometimes court hearings and occasionally marketing/networking events.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Speaking to clients and various organisations, which will require strong verbal communication skills in Russian and English
- Drafting various court documents, which will require strong written communication skills in English
- Attending various meetings across England & Wales, in Russian and English
- Analysing medical and court documents, which will require attention to detail
- Ability to work independently; to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines, which will require excellent organisational skills
- Marketing activities/promoting the firm’s services to the communities in England and Wales, which will require flexibility beyond normal working hours (to answer client phone calls)
Requirements:
- Fluent Russian and English languages
- A law degree/law student/qualified foreign lawyers and/or experience working in a law firm (or customer service experience)
- Additional Eastern European languages would be a bonus (e.g. Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Moldovan/Romanian, Latvian, etc)
