Position Overview

The Digital Products team develops and maintains a portfolio of digital solutions to support USAID-funded economic growth, environment, governance, and health programs through the Business Transformation team within the USG Business Unit. It consists of a team of digital-focused product managers, data scientists, spatial analysts, and software developers. Team members have a customer-first mindset and, using software development life cycle best practices, are responsible for gathering requirements on digital product requests, developing project support plans, overseeing data analysis and software development processes, communicating with internal and external clients, and conducting quality control on deliverables.

This position will be responsible for engaging with DAI project technical staff and leadership to facilitate the discovery and implementation of project digital delivery or data analytics needs. The Product Specialist will need to be able to discover and deeply understand project technical needs and consider solutions from multiple perspectives through a robust and rigorous requirement gathering process. The Product Specialist is expected to possess strong problem solving and business need assessment skills that directly support operations of DAI field-based projects. The Product Specialist will also be responsible for supporting the Digital Products team by accurately tracking and managing incoming support requests. This position may also provide ad hoc support to DAI projects on other short-term technical assignments as opportunities or needs arise.

This is a full-time position that requires authorization to work in the United States. This position requires coming into into the office one day per week.

Responsibilities
  • Identify project digital solutions requirements through thorough requirement analysis
  • Gather requirements from project teams, document expectations, and communicate them to Digital Products team members.
  • Clearly define project timelines, priorities, and value-creation opportunities in coordination with team members.
  • Manage intake of project requests for support and engagement.
  • Manage the schedule, expectations, and scope of engagements with both internal and external clients to facilitate the delivery of high-quality products or solutions.
  • Facilitate overall project management and team collaboration on projects.
  • Coordinate with and assist team members with various steps of the software development life cycle as needed
  • Collaborate on projects/deliverables with thematically varied business units across DAI
  • Identify areas for improvement in process or policy and suggest solutions or alternative methodologies.
  • Support the digital solutions requests process, tracking received requests, prioritization, approval, and progress.
  • Maintain quality controls and departmental standards to ensure quality standards, organization expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Requirements:
  • Grade P5: Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience in in technical project management, business analysis roles, or related area, or related area, and a college degree.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience implementing various phases of the software development life cycle
  • Experience gathering technical requirements from clients or stakeholders
  • Previous experience with client/stakeholder management on software or web-development projects
  • Working knowledge of web development tools and workflows
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools and explore new technologies for solving problems.
  • Experience configuring off-the-shelf business/technical solutions (SaaS, PaaS)
  • Previous experience creating workflow and process documentation
  • Familiarity with best practices of data management, privacy, security
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to translate complex business requirements into actionable recommendations or work plans
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence with empathy and strong interpersonal skills
  • Able and willing to travel to any country where DAI currently operates or may wish to operate barring times when DAI Global Security has deemed travel unsafe.
  • Able and willing to adjust work schedule, if needed, to support teams located in different time zones/countries.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Requirements:
  • A degree in Information Technology, Technical Project Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field
  • Understanding of USAID/USG policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Familiarity with data management or ETL
  • Working knowledge of one or more programming or query languages such as Python, R, SQL, HTML/CSS
  • Experience working with or connecting to APIs
  • Familiarity knowledge of data science tools and methodologies
  • Advanced proficiency with business intelligence software (PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Previous experience working in Jira
  • Previous experience with GitHub
  • Previous experience with Airtable
  • Working knowledge of WordPress or other content management systems
  • Experience working on a diverse, remote team of developers and data scientists
  • Strong business acumen
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly and tailor communication style to diverse audiences
  • Professional working proficiency in a second language (Spanish, French, Russian, or Arabic preferred). Experience living and working outside the United States.

Compensation & Benefits:

For employees working the United States, the full-time equivalent annual base salary for this position is expected to be between $87,931 to $112,171. Salary for part-time employees will be prorated based on actual hours worked. Actual offers will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant education, experience, skills, seniority, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Eligible U.S. based employees will be able to enroll in medical, dental and vision insurance, plus a 401(k)-retirement plan with a company match. Additionally, employees will be eligible for company-paid annual leave (vacation & holidays), sick leave, and parental leave, as well as short- and long-term disability coverage. Detailed information will be provided at the time a formal offer is extended.

For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on location.
