When a business is facing allegations of improper financial reporting, accounting fraud, bribery, or other corporate malfeasance, a prompt and well-conceived investigation strategy and response is critical. Regulators, auditors, and investors require timely and credible answers to questions that arise in such situations. Ankura assists company boards, senior management, and legal counsel by deploying highly experienced forensic accountants, investigators, and former regulators to unravel complex accounting issues and fraud schemes credibly, efficiently, and discreetly, and to clearly communicate the facts to relevant authorities and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The team members in our practice have been deeply involved in some of the most challenging and high-profile financial and accounting advisory engagements ever undertaken. At Ankura, we work collaboratively with our clients to make our diverse suite of investigative and technical services available in the most cost-effective and efficient manner possible. We have the experience and flexibility to scale our efforts to fit the size and needs of any matter, and we appreciate that every engagement is unique. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and clients on challenging, sensitive and adversarial situations
  • Conduct forensic investigations, technical accounting research, background interviews and searches, asset searches, fund tracing, electronic data reviews
  • Prepare engagement work plans, working papers, project documentation, progress reports, draft and final reports to the highest level of quality
  • Lead and manage engagements comprised of internal and external experts in close, intermittent and distant collaboration modes
  • Plan, manage and control budgets on investigations engagements
  • Monitor and manage risks throughout the engagement cycle. Adhere to the strictest standards of client and engagement confidentiality and integrity
  • Maintain active communication with counsel, clients and internal team to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
  • Design, craft and deliver client proposals, presentations, and marketing materials
  • Participate in business development activities such as public speaking events, conferences, seminars, marketing events and client meetings.
Required Experience And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with strong technical and research skills, and expertise in GAAP and financial reporting
  • CPA required, and other forensic accreditation considered positively (CFE, CFF, ABV)
  • 15+ years' experience in audit and/or forensics gained in global accounting firms, and/or specialized forensic accounting and investigatory services firms
  • Proven track record of working on complex accounting investigations and/or expert witness engagements
  • Strong data skills and Windows suite proficiency
  • Ability to research, retrieve, prepare, and analyze structured and unstructured information
  • First class report writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent English skills, with additional foreign language skills considered positively, especially Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, German or Chinese
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility, vigilance and drive
  • Open, inquisitive and critical mind, collaborative outlook
  • Interest in learning new areas and for ongoing self-development
  • Self-motivation and strong commitment to achievement of end results
