Consultant Chair, KZ
Description
Providing access to high quality health care close to home is the mission of UPMC. With a global reputation as a health care leader and innovator, UPMC is partnering with the Nazarbayev University (NU) and the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine (NUSoM) to reimagine the country’s approach to clinical care and medical education, and to align practices with those of a western style academic medical center (AMC). This program is the first of its kind in Kazakhstan.
UPMC and the Nazarbayev University School of Medicine are currently recruiting for five, U.S. board-certified physicians in various specialties who will partner with their NUSoM counterpart in the development, implementation, and oversight of departmental programs. They also will serve on committees and provide information to the department chair regarding the needs, accomplishments, and concerns of the department's physicians. Consultant chairs will work closely with their UPMC peers to ensure the care delivery model is implemented with the highest degree of integrity. This includes guidance on policy, quality assurance, hiring, research, and operationalizing best practices to ensure it represents the higher caliber of health care delivery for which UPMC is known.
In addition to a chief medical officer, we are recruiting for consultant chairs in the following specialties:
Nazarbayev University was established in 2010 and is the country’s flagship academic institution. A key component of the university is its model of introducing new approaches to higher education, and if the approaches have the desired impact, it subsequently serves as a template for future changes to the educational system throughout the country. Within the university is NU Medicine, a highly regarded health system, comprised of hospitals, a medical school, and research facilities, where the majority of faculty and staff are internationally trained and fluent in English.
UPMC is working with NU to build a gold-standard academic medical center (AMC) that will not only serve as the model for health care delivery in the future, but also will help ensure people throughout Kazakhstan will have increased access to comprehensive, high-quality health care without the need to travel far from home. The goal of the AMC is to help raise the level of health care and patient outcomes throughout Kazakhstan, through innovation and piloting new methods of health care delivery, medical education, and research, that will ultimately support improvement and modernization of national healthcare policies and practices.
